Welcome to the website for the Sheffield Academies - Sheffield Park
Academy and Sheffield Springs Academy - where you will find a wide
variety of information about the Academies and the amazing
educational opportunities and facilities it brings to the Manor,
Park and Castle areas of Sheffield.
Sheffield Park Academy replaces Waltheof School, opening this
September in the existing buildings, before transferring to new
multi-million pound purpose built accommodation, currently under
construction on the Beaumont Close site. Sheffiled Park
Academy has the specialism of Business and Enterprise. At the same
time, Sheffield Springs Academy also opens its doors, replacing
Myrtle Springs School at East Bank Road and will also be replaced
with muti-million pound state-of-the-art buildings and
facilities. The specialism of Sheffield Springs Academy is
Performing Arts. Both new sets of buildings will open during
the 2007/8 academic year.
September 2007 will see the opening of the Sixth Form across the two Academies. At Sheffield Park Academy there will be 250 post-16 places and 300 post-16 places at Sheffield Springs Academy, a total of 550 places across the two sites. The Sixth Form curriculum offer across both Academies will be exciting, large and varied - there will be an appropriate level of course for anyone who wishes to pursue their post-16 studies at the Academies.
As Executive Director for both of the Sheffield Academies, I have overall responsibility for the relationships between the Academies and the Local Authority and for building relationships with major local employers and community organisations.
I am also determined that our two Academies in Sheffield will provide a step change in education in the areas that they serve. We have a real opportunity here to create and develop new schools which are ideally placed to answer the needs of their communities and develop young adults with the skills, qualifications and enthusiasm for the regeneration of this area.
